Scintillating 1899-S Double Eagle, MS62 Prooflike
1899-S $20 MS62 Prooflike NGC. With just over 2 million examples struck, the 1899-S has an appreciable population of certified Prooflike pieces, though such coins represent only a tiny fraction of the original mintage. This gleaming yellow-gold piece exhibits excellent reflectivity on each side and crisp detail, though the obverse shows a number of scattered abrasions that account for the grade.
