Description
Incredible 1901 Double Eagle, MS65
1901 $20 MS65 NGC. Although the 1901 double eagle has a mintage many times smaller than the enormous 1904--111,400 pieces versus 6.2 million--both are available for a price up to the Gem level. The difference is, the 1901 is almost never seen finer: NGC has graded none finer, while PCGS has seen three. Incredible coruscating luster is the hallmark of the present MS65 example, with deep orange-reddish coloration and a bold strike. A wonderful type coin. From The E.J.
