Description
Sparkling 1901 Double Eagle, MS65
1901 $20 MS65 NGC. Despite the low mintage for the 1901 double eagles they were exported in considerable numbers, so that today Gems are relatively available, if far more elusive than the ubiquitous 1904 issue. This sparkling MS65 specimen boasts wonderful reddish-orange patina, an extremely sharp strike, and no mentionable distractions on either side. NGC has never graded an example finer than MS65, while PCGS has certified three MS66 pieces (9/09).From The E.J. Mutton Collection of U.S. Gold.(Registry values: N2998)
