Description

Lustrous 1901 Twenty Dollar, MS65

1901 $20 MS65 NGC. MS65 is the finest grade most collectors are likely to encounter of the 1901 double eagle. Only three pieces have been graded higher, all PCGS MS66s (9/09). The fields of this Gem are mostly orange-gold, while the central devices display lighter shades of brass-gold. A few light, inoffensive alloy spots are visible, a characteristic of the date. Lustrous surfaces are sharply struck throughout and reveal a few small bagmarks. The first 1 in the date is repunched at the base and below the flag.
