Choice 1901-S Liberty Double Eagle
Strong Luster, Vivid Color

1901-S $20 MS64 NGC. CAC. The 1901-S Liberty Head double eagle is a high-mintage issue, but most examples were widely circulated in foreign trade. As a result, Garrett and Guth report, "Choice and gem examples are very rare." The present coin displays an exceptional strike, with vibrant, satiny mint luster. The surfaces are vivid greenish-gold, with hints of rose. Census: 64 in 64, 4 finer (1/11).(Registry values: N2998)
