Choice 1901-S Liberty Double Eagle
Strong Luster, Vivid Color
1901-S $20 MS64 NGC. CAC. The 1901-S Liberty Head double
eagle is a high-mintage issue, but most examples were widely
circulated in foreign trade. As a result, Garrett and Guth report,
"Choice and gem examples are very rare." The present coin displays
an exceptional strike, with vibrant, satiny mint luster. The
surfaces are vivid greenish-gold, with hints of rose. Census: 64 in
64, 4 finer (1/11).(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26CT, PCGS# 9040, Greysheet# 9962)
