Description

1902-S Twenty Dollar, Flashy MS64+

1902-S $20 MS64+ PCGS. CAC. The 1902-S double eagle is a high-mintage issue that was exported and later repatriated in large numbers, but most of the Mint State survivors today are in the range of MS60 to MS62. Select pieces are challenging, near-Gems are rare, and Gems are seldom seen. This MS64 representative displays flashy, coruscating luster emanating from deeply colored orange-red surfaces. A few stray marks on Liberty's cheek are in concert with the grade, but the eye appeal is striking, and the strike is appealing. PCGS has seen only three submissions at the Gem level (4/11).(Registry values: N4719)
