1904 Double Eagle, MS64+ Prooflike
Rare High-End CAC Example
1904 $20 MS64+ Prooflike PCGS. CAC. The availability
associated with the 1904 double eagle can be completely disregarded
for collectors seeking a Prooflike example. Indeed, many Prooflike
pieces survive, but they are somewhat scarce. The majority are to
be found in the MS62 and MS63 grades, while MS64 Prooflike coins
being borderline rare; only a single higher-grade Prooflike piece
exists at PCGS (4/24). This is one of just two Plus-designated
Prooflike coins in MS64. Sharp motifs complement the reflective
fields, while neither side exhibits bothersome abrasions. Overall
eye appeal is simply outstanding. It is also one of just two
CAC-endorsed Prooflike pieces in this grade. Population: 13 in 64
