Description
1904 Twenty, MS66
Distinctive Rose and Lilac Patina
1904 $20 MS66 PCGS. The 1904 is widely recognized as the
most available Liberty double eagle. Many thousands of pieces have
been found in European bank vaults and repatriated over the years
back to this country. As such it is not surprising that this date
is an overlooked condition rarity. The surfaces on this piece are
pleasing and satiny with an equal intermingling of rose and lilac
on each side. In addition to the distinctive coloration perhaps
this coin's most notable feature is the highly unusual lack of
abrasions. The strike is also fully brought up on both obverse and
reverse. Noticeably finer than even the usual MS65
example.(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26CY, PCGS# 9045, Greysheet# 9839)
Weight: 33.44 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
