Description

1905 Liberty Double Eagle, MS61
Low-Mintage Type Three Issue

1905 $20 MS61 PCGS. CAC. More than 6 million double eagles were struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1904, followed by an extremely low 58,919-piece mintage in 1905. The 1905 issue is a highly sought Type Three date that challenges those completing a set of late-series Liberty Head twenties. This is a lightly marked MS61 example shows a thin overlay of gray-dirt bag grime that confirms the natural lemon-gold surfaces. The strike is sharp and the Mint State eye appeal remains strong.(Registry values: N1793)
