Description

1905 Double Eagle, MS62
Relatively Scarce in Mint State

1905 $20 MS62 PCGS. Yellow-gold surfaces contain significant Mint luster. Slight weakness occurs on the uppermost strands of hair. Light abrasions cover the surface, serving as evidence that this coin was part of a bag of exported double eagles that were repatriated over the last few decades. Evidently, much of this year's mintage found its way overseas, as this issue was almost unknown in Mint State until repatriations began. Even so, it is still scarce in the context of 20th Century Liberty Head twenties.(Registry values: N1793)
