Description
Pleasing 1905 Double Eagle, MS62
1905 $20 MS62 PCGS. Following an enormous mintage for the 1904 double eagle (over 5.1 million pieces), the Philadelphia Mint responded by striking only 58,919 twenties in 1905. This issue is typically seen in grades up to MS61 and the number of survivors drops significantly above that level. Bright yellow patina graces the surfaces of this crisply struck representative. Scattered abrasions define the grade and none are particularly detracting. PCGS has certified just 52 pieces finer (8/08).(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26D2, PCGS# 9047, GSID# 9840)
