Description
1906 Liberty Double Eagle, MS64
Low-Mintage Philadelphia Issue
1906 $20 MS64 PCGS Secure. CAC. The 1906 Liberty double
eagle claims a small 20th century mintage of 69,596 pieces, making
it a challenging issue in high grade. Many coins were used to
settle large accounts in foreign trade and the typical Mint State
specimen recovered from European holdings shows the extensive
bagmarks associated with rough storage and transport. The 1906 is
rare in MS64 condition, and finer coins are prime condition
rarities. The present coin is a delightful Choice specimen with sharply detailed design elements throughout. The pleasing peach-gold surfaces are especially well-preserved, with vibrant mint luster and outstanding eye appeal. Population: 30 in 64 (1 in 64+), 8 finer. CAC: 6 in 64, 4 finer (3/18).(Registry values: N4719)
Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26D4, PCGS# 9049, Greysheet# 9841)
Weight: 33.44 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
