Description

Gem 1907-D Double Eagle

1907-D $20 MS65 NGC. Second and last of the D-mint Liberty double eagle issues, the 1907-D has the higher mintage, though it is not until the Mint State levels that it becomes significantly more available than its predecessor. Gem coins of both dates are elusive, and anything finer is rare. This MS65 example of the 1907-D issue has bold orange-yellow luster, tending to the former color on the obverse and the latter on the reverse. Carefully preserved with a strong strike.
