Splendid Near-Gem 1907-S Double Eagle
1907-S $20 MS64 PCGS. CAC. The 1907-S is the last S-mint Liberty Head double eagle, and this piece is a splendid near-Gem worthy of representing the last of its kind. Most Mint State examples seen are heavily bagmarked, but not so this piece. There are few mentionable abrasions on either side, and the orange-gold color and boldly impressed details put this coin in a small minority. PCGS has certified only two Gems (9/09).(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26D9, PCGS# 9054, GSID# 9970)
