Description
1869-S Double Eagle, MS62
Challenging Any Finer
Ex: Granite Lady
1869-S $20 MS62 PCGS. Ex: Granite Lady Hoard. The 1869-S
double eagle remains an important rarity in Mint State despite the
many foreign repatriates in recent decades. Like many double eagles
from the 1860s, today most Uncirculated examples grade no higher
than MS60 or MS61. High-end MS62 coins are the target of series
specialists. Higher-graded examples are seldom available and often
beyond the means of most collectors. This exceptional MS62 coin
displays satin-smooth antique gold surfaces and minimal marks
throughout the lustrous fields. A few light marks on the cheek and
nose are of little notice in-hand, while the original surfaces
provide outstanding eye appeal for the grade. PCGS Population: 15
