Description

1903-S Double Eagle, MS65
Finest Certified at PCGS

1903-S $20 MS65 PCGS. Scintillating yellow-gold hues are paired with an abundance of cartwheel luster. Abrasions are light, and examination with a glass locates none that are particularly troublesome. Strike is similarly exquisite, with not a strand of hair nor eagle's feather lacking full definition. Machine doubling is present on the reverse lettering. This San Francisco double eagle is yet another issue that saw significant exports, resulting in a preponderance of survivors, but only at the low end of the Mint State spectrum. Gems are very rare, and PCGS has certified none above the 65 level, tying the present offering for finest certified by that service. Population: 25 in 65, 0 finer (12/25).(Registry values: N4719)
