Description
1838 AU 50 Cleaned. First year of the popular two-year type by Christian Gobrecht, with the modified bust of Liberty. Just 7,200 pieces were struck and only a tiny percentage of those survive today. This piece is not without its problems. Numerous surface marks, including some scratches and rim marks are only heightened by the rather harsh cleaning. Still, a very desirable item for the budget-minded collector.
