Description

1840 $10 XF45 NGC. The 1840 Philadelphia eagle is a condition rarity with fewer than a dozen known in Mint State. Date collectors are often limited to circulated examples of this issue since there were no branch mint eagles struck for the year. This XF example displays olive-gold color with some hints of remaining mint luster. A series of small marks appear in the left obverse field and on Liberty's chin, limiting the grade.
