Conditionally Rare AU58 Large Date 1842 Eagle
1842 $10 Large Date AU58 NGC. A prooflike example that has little if any rub on the devices, but the fields have numerous minor abrasions. There is a small amount of dirt on the R and above the C in AMERICA. A trio of heavy die cracks (as struck) begin at 2, 7, and 10 o'clock, and intersect within the eagle to the left of the shield. While not as rare as its Small Date counterpart, less than 63,000 were struck. Most survivors are in VF and XF grades. Population: 8 in 58, 2 finer (7/02).Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 262K, PCGS# 8584, GSID# 9361)
