Seldom-Offered 1842 Small Date Eagle, Mint State Sharpness
1842 $10 Small Date--Polished--NCS. Unc Details. There are two distinct varieties of 1842 eagles, and the Small Date type has a mintage of less than one-third of its Large date counterpart. This variety is rare in Mint State and, despite cleaning, this piece is a desirable representative. The strike is sharp, and there are only a few small marks. Bright yellow-gold patina covers the surfaces, which unfortunately have been polished.(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 262L, PCGS# 8585, GSID# 9362)
