Description
Conditionally Challenging 1842 Large Date Eagle, AU 55
1842 $10 AU 55. Large Date. Both the Small Date and Large Date varieties of this P-mint issue are of comparable overall rarity. The Large Date is, however, conditionally scarcer as most known survivors grade VF or XF. With partially lustrous, green-gold surfaces, this is a rather attractive coin despite scattered circulation marks. The strike is bold and all major features are amply defined. The original mintage of the 1842 Large Date eagle is only 62,884 pieces.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 262K, PCGS# 8584, GSID# 9361)
