S.S. Republic. This is a boldly detailed, near-Mint example
of this elusive Philadelphia issue, pedigreed to the famous S.S.
Republic discovery. The surfaces are moderately abraded, as is
typical of this grade level and also of this issue in general, but
substantial prooflike mirroring in the fields balances the visual
appeal. Unlisted in the Cherrypickers' Guide, the date is
mildly repunched north. NGC Census: 16 in 58 (1 in 58★ ), 5
