Description

1844-O Liberty Ten, MS60
Rare in Mint State

1844-O $10 MS60 NGC. Variety 1, struck from blundered dies. The obverse has a misplaced 8 in the dentils below the digit 8 in the date, and the reverse has the mintmark recut inside the left hand curve. That mintmark is nearly centered over the space between the E and N in TEN, and leans to the left. This issue is rare in Mint State grades, with just 20 examples certified as MS60 or finer. This example is the 13th appearance of a Mint State example in our auctions since the start of our Permanent Auction Archives. Both sides of this light yellow-gold example are sharply defined, with considerable satin mint luster, and minimal scattered marks. Census: 6 in 60, 9 finer (6/19).(Registry values: N4719)
