Appealing AU 1846 Eagle
1846 $10 AU50 NGC. This pre-California Gold Rush issue has a mintage of just over 20,000 pieces, and most survivors show considerable wear; as Garrett and Guth note, "The typical 1846 example is only EF or worse. About Uncirculated pieces are definitely rare ... ." This yellow-orange piece, though moderately marked with a scrape in the right obverse field, exhibits only slight rub on the high points.
