Description

Technical Mint State 1846 Eagle

1846 $10 --Reverse Rim Damage, Improperly Cleaned--NCS. Mint State Details. Actually a remarkable coin despite minor hairlines, rim filing, and other small scrapes on the reverse. It is fully lustrous with satiny surfaces and no trace of wear on either side. The brilliant yellow fields have considerable reflectivity. Coined before the California Gold Rush, the 1846 is far from common, with a mintage of just 20,095 coins. Consider that PCGS has never graded a Mint State 1846 eagle, and NGC has only graded five examples in MS60 through MS62. An ideal example for the collector with a little forgiveness.(Registry values: N7079)
