Description
1846-O XF 40 PCGS. We are uncertain if this coin is an overdate, or if there is just repunching on the final two digits in the date. The mintmark is positioned above the space between the N and D, as seen on the Normal Date, Thin Stars coins, but something is definitely going on in the date area that precludes it from being a Normal Date coin. Either way, this is a rare and important ten for the specialist. Weakly struck in the centers, as usually seen, the weakness is especially pronounced on the eagle's left (facing) leg. Otherwise, an original coin that is minimally abraded for the grade.
