Description

1847 No Motto Eagle, MS61
A Conditionally Scarce Example

1847 $10 MS61 NGC. Mint State No Motto eagles are scarce, and despite a plentiful mintage (862,258 pieces), the 1847 is difficult to locate in Uncirculated, as a look at the population data shows. This lovely yellow-gold piece displays ample luster. Myriad marks on each side are typical for the grade and issue. Although the stars and tips of the eagle's wings are soft, the rest of the details are boldly struck. An excellent No Motto type coin. Census: 30 in 61 (1 in 61+, 1 in 61 ), 13 finer (3/14).
