Description
Choice AU 1848 Ten-Dollar--A Lower Condition Census Coin
1848 AU 55 PCGS. A scarce and underrated date among P-mint tens, and an issue that can easily be lost amid the towering rarities that surround it. At the AU 55 level this piece is tied with several other issues as fifth finest known. This is a choice example of the date. The fields are semi-prooflike and the coin overall has a rich orange-gold color. Just a touch of striking softness is noted on the highpoints. The only mentionable surface flaws are a group of field marks above the eagle on the reverse.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2633, PCGS# 8599, GSID# 9368)
