Description
Low Mintage 1848-O Eagle, AU50
1848-O $10 AU50 NGC. Most of the high-point softness on each side of this AU example can be attributed to poor striking definition rather than circulation wear. The light green-gold surfaces are somewhat muted, however, and show scattered marks that probably indicate at least a brief stay in the channels of commerce. A scarce, low mintage New Orleans Mint issue of only 35,850 pieces. Census: 19 in 50, 59 finer (6/09).(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2634, PCGS# 8600, GSID# 9438)
