Delightful 1848-O Eagle, Choice AU
1848-O $10 AU55 NGC. The 1848-O is a scarce issue with a mintage of just 38,850 pieces, and it is seldom seen in AU and higher grades. Lovely orange-gold patina embraces both sides of this lightly abraded specimen. The strike is weak, particularly on the stars, as almost always seen, and there are hints of verdigris in the protected areas. Plenty of luster resides in the fields, especially on the reverse. A shield ring is noted atop the second vertical stripe. Census: 20 in 55, 23 finer (7/09).(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2634, PCGS# 8600, GSID# 9438)
