Description

1851 Eagle, MS63
No Motto Type Coin

1851 $10 MS63 PCGS. While large quantities of California gold were shipped to Philadelphia in 1851, most of that metal was converted into double eagles at the Mint. The ten-dollar denomination had a mintage of 176,328 coins, and most of those entered circulation as told by the average certified grade of just AU50. This Select Mint State piece is among the finest surviving examples, exhibiting brilliant and highly lustrous light yellow-gold surfaces with excellent design definition and inconsequential, grade-consistent marks. Overall eye appeal is outstanding. Population: 3 in 63, 1 finer (11/25).
