    Description

    1852-O Liberty Ten, AU53
    Low-Mintage New Orleans Issue

1852-O $10 AU53 PCGS. Variety 1. The New Orleans Mint produced only 18,000 ten dollar gold pieces in 1852, with two varieties known for the date. As might be expected from the low mintage, the 1852-O is a scarce issue in all grades, and examples in AU53 are quite rare. Doug Winter believes the surviving population numbers no more than 80-90 total examples, with 14-16 specimens in the AU range.
The present coin is an attractive AU53 example, with just a trace of wear on the well-detailed devices. The surfaces display a pleasing greenish-gold color, with traces of prooflike reflectivity in sheltered areas. Population: 8 in 53, 11 finer (8/11).(Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 263D, PCGS# 8609)

The outcome of the auction far exceeded my best hopes and would not likely have been as successful with out your sound advice on where to present the coin and how best to set the reserve. Throughout the process your availability , support and knowledge were exceptional.
