Very Scarce 1852-O AU 58 Ten Dollar
1852-O AU 58 PCGS. The 1852-O boasts the second lowest mintage of all New Orleans Mint eagles produced to this point, just 18,000 pieces, and survivors are nearly as rare as those of the 1848-O and 1849-O issues. The typically encountered grade is either VF or XF and, since only 3 Mint State survivors have been certified by both major services, this flashy AU 58 example is among the finest representatives available on today's market. The surfaces show bright, semi-reflective fields with honey-gold coloration. The striking quality is above average for a product of the New Orleans Mint and the overall scuffy appearance does little to detract from this coin's desirability. Population: 4 in 58, 1 finer (2/00).Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 263D, PCGS# 8609, GSID# 9442)
