Description
Attractive 1853 Eagle, AU58
1853 $10 AU58 PCGS. A frosty near-Mint example of the popular 1853 eagle with moderately abraded surfaces. Both sides have nice details with little apparent weakness. Considered one of the common issues in the Liberty eagle series, the mintage was undoubtedly influenced by the California gold discovery. The massive influx of newly mined gold in the early 1850s meant that all of the mint branches had plenty to keep them busy. Population: 21 in 58, 24 finer (7/08).(Registry values: N991)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 263E, PCGS# 8610, GSID# 9374)
