Scarce Choice AU 1853/2 Ten Dollar
1853/2 $10 AU55 NGC. CAC. FS-301, formerly FS-007. Struck the same year as the 1853/2 double eagle, which like the 1853/2 eagle is the only widely accepted overdate of its respective series. The 1839/8 and 1846/5-O are believed by many specialists to be repunched dates or from defective logotype punches. This is a pleasing example with ample luster and original dusky yellow-gold color.
