Description
1853/2 AU 53 NGC. A very scarce issue with fewer than 40 pieces known, none of which grade mint state. This is a well struck piece with remnants of original luster still seen around the devices as well as a hint of light rose patina at the peripheries. There are a few small abrasions noted on the face of Liberty and what resembles a figure 4 is scratched into the left reverse field above the eagle's wing. Trends $2,150 in AU 50.
