1853-O $10 AU55 NGC. Winter-4....
Description
1853-O No Motto Ten, AU55
Conditionally Rare in Mint State
1853-O $10 AU55 NGC. Winter-4. Out of 51,000 eagles struck
in 1853, Doug Winter in Gold Coins of the New Orleans Mint
(1839-1909), fifth edition (2025), establishes that there are
at least five die varieties utilized for the issue. This example
shows the O mintmark set lower than normal, while missing the
shield ring seen on other varieties. Ample luster remains on the
green-gold surfaces, flashing vibrant orange and lilac for splendid
eye appeal. Marks are typical for the grade and slight wear is seen
on the higher points. NGC shows only seven pieces in Mint State
(10/25).(Registry values: N1793)From The Brittany Legacy Collection, Part II.
