1853-O $10 AU55 NGC. Winter-4. No fewer than eight die
marriages were needed to strike a mere 51,000 pieces of this
popular branch mint issue. Perhaps as many 200-300 circulated
examples survive in all grades combined, with fewer than a dozen
Mint State examples known. This Choice About Uncirculated coin
retains much of its original mint luster throughout its lightly
abraded, medium-gold surfaces. A sharp strike reveals only a touch
of wear that visits the high points. Census: 88 in 55, 60 finer
