Description

1854 $10 AU55 NGC. Gold production at the Philadelphia and New Orleans Mints approached record levels at the beginning of the California Gold Rush from 1849 to 1853, but dropped precipitously upon the 1854 opening of the San Francisco Mint. Only 54,250 eagles were coined in Philadelphia in 1854. This Choice AU example has hints of orange toning on its lustrous light yellow surfaces.(Registry values: N1793)
