Description

1854-O Large Date Eagle, AU58+
Date Punch Intended for Silver Dollars

1854-O $10 Large Date AU58+ PCGS. Variety 2. Light repunching occurs on the base of the 1, and the O mintmark is low relative to the fletching. Die cracks run from the rim between stars 10 and 11 to the portrait, and from the rim through the right base of the A in AMERICA to the wing. This typically struck, virtually unworn New Orleans eagle showcases semireflective yellow-gold surfaces with bright luster around the devices. The 1854-O Large Date is the more collectible than the Small Date type, but Doug Winter estimates only seven to 10 examples exist in higher grades than this AU58+ representative.(Registry values: N1793)
