Attractive Choice AU 1854-S Eagle
1854-S $10 AU55 NGC. Light, even wear affects both sides of this still-lustrous orange-gold piece. Scattered small to moderate abrasions appear on each side. An attractive representative from the first year of the San Francisco Mint. Garret and Guth (2006) state that examples are easily available to collectors in grades up to XF and AU. Mint State survivors are rare and very costly, however, making a Choice AU specimen such as this much more affordable for the average numismatist.
