Description

1855 Liberty Eagle, MS61
Mint State Rarity

1855 $10 MS61 CACG. Original honey-gold surfaces on frosty mint luster show colorful lilac and orange accents on this No Motto eagle. While generally well-struck, Liberty's forehead curls are soft and some of the stars show weak radial lines. A horizontal abrasion on Liberty's neck and light marks on both sides account for the grade. Originality is confirmed by a few ebony toning flecks on the reverse. Mint State examples are scarce with PCGS showing just 40 pieces, and of these only 13 are graded numerically finer than this MS61 eagle (6/25).(Registry values: N2998)
