Lovely 1855 Liberty Eagle, MS61
1855 $10 MS61 NGC. A popular and elusive eagle from an important era in gold coinage. With the fledgling San Francisco Mint finally operating, little gold reached Philadelphia, with dwindling mintages for the next couple decades. In 1855, production totaled 121,701 coins, and few survived in Mint State grades. This piece has rich orange-gold luster with hints of green. The surfaces are lightly abraded as usual for the grade. An important opportunity is presented to the specialist, who may wish to bid aggressively on this piece.
