Description

1855-O Eagle, AU55
Boldly Struck Orange-Gold Example

1855-O $10 AU55 NGC. Variety 1. Slanted 5s. The 1855-O eagle mintage has exactly the same mintage as the 1852-O production, each at 18,000 coin. Coincidence? At any rate, one big difference between the two issues is that minor silver was again circulating by the time the 1855-O was struck, due to the lower-content Arrows coinage. This Choice AU 1885-O ten offers a bold strike over orange-gold surfaces that show no major marks and lots of eye appeal. Probably underrated at this level. Census: 15 in 55, 9 finer (10/14).(Registry values: N4719)
