1855-O $10 AU58 NGC. Variety 1. Ex: S.S. Republic.
The 1855-O is another rare and underappreciated New Orleans issue.
The mintage was just 18,000 pieces, and NGC has yet to certify any
as Mint State. The (12/21) NGC Census shows 15 examples in AU58, a
figure undoubtedly inflated by resubmissions. NGC lists eight '55-O
tens from the S.S. Republic shipwreck, four in AU55 and four
in AU58. This near-Mint butter-gold representative has a minimally
abraded obverse. The reverse displays contact on the field above
the eagle and near the CA in AMERICA. The strike is crisp except on
