Description

1855-O Variety 2 Eagle, AU58
Impossible Rarity Finer

1855-O $10 AU58 NGC. Variety 2. Only 18,000 eagles were minted in New Orleans throughout 1855, as gold coin production shifted to the new San Francisco Mint that opened the previous year. The 1855-O eagle is rarely seen in higher grades, and NGC has never certified a Mint State example. Only two such pieces appear in the PCGS population data. Only a trace of wear appears on the high points of this lustrous green-gold beauty, with trivial marks.
