Description
Rare About Uncirculated 1855-S Eagle, Only 9,000 Pieces Minted
1855-S $10 AU50 PCGS. Although the 1854-S Eagle is available in better circulated grades, the same cannot be said for the 1855-S. Only 9,000 pieces were struck, since the San Francisco Mint concentrated on Double Eagle production to meet the demands of Gold Rush commerce. Well struck aside from the lowest obverse stars, and with healthy amounts of orange luster in protected areas. The obverse is moderately abraded, while the reverse is relatively unmarked. Population: 5 in 50, 6 finer (10/03).(#8618)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 263N, PCGS# 8618, Greysheet# 9449)
Weight: 16.72 grams
