Description
1855-S Ten Dollar, AU53
Low-Mintage Condition Rarity
1855-S $10 AU53 PCGS. CAC. Unknown in Uncirculated condition
and conditionally scarce at the About Uncirculated level from a
9,000-piece mintage, the 1855-S is an unsung rarity in the Liberty
Head ten dollar series. PCGS estimates only 60 to 80 pieces exist
in all grades combined. This is an attractive straw-gold coin with
scattered light marks and abrasions, but no heavy points of
contact. Traces of reflectivity exhibit mint luster on both sides.
This exact coin is the sole CAC-approved 1855-S eagle at the AU53
grade, with only one other CAC example listed any finer.
Population: 9 in 53, 3 finer. CAC: 1 in 53, 1 finer
(12/23).(Registry values: N4719)From The Sandia Sunset Collection, Part II.
