Description

    1855-S Eagle, XF45
    Only 9,000 Minted

1855-S $10 XF45 NGC. In 1854, the San Francisco Mint opened its doors and immediately began producing eagles and double eagles, including more than 100,000 of the smaller gold coins. Apparently that satisfied the demand for some time, as 1855 saw a mere 9,000 Liberty eagles minted in San Francisco. This Choice XF example has a trace of luster on its light yellow surfaces, with scattered marks that limit the grade. Here is an important opportunity. Census: 7 in 45, 18 finer (12/13).
