Choice AU 1856-O Eagle, Rare in Mint State
1856-O $10 AU55 NGC. This low-mintage issue is extremely rare in Mint State, and only four coins have achieved an Uncirculated grade--just barely--three at NGC and one at PCGS, all certified MS60. Weak strikes on stars 1-2 and 12-13 are common, as is a light green-gold color caused by a higher percentage of silver in the alloy from New Orleans. This Choice AU offering displays bright yellow-gold surfaces that retain luster in the recessed areas. The design elements exhibit fairly sharp detail, except in areas of high-point wear.
